The Raffle

Although the Julio J. Gonzalez Memorial Ride is a time to get together with friends and family of Julio to remember him in a positive way, it is also a great opportunity to assist the family in providing funds to the Julio J. Gonzalez Scholarship. Since the scholarship is not currently a perpetual account that is replenished each year by contributors, we need to take every opportunity to assist in supporting this scholarship. In doing so, the board of the scholarship can continue to provide opportunities of higher education to the Senior of San Simon Arizona in Julio's name who may not otherwise be able to.

To assist in the funding of the scholarship, as part of the Julio J. Gonzalez Memorial Ride, we try to pull together items that can be raffled off.. We hope this year to be the same success...

The Helmet Center

The Helmet Center has been a strong supporter of this group for several years now. Right from the beginning when we all got the tragic news of Julio's death and a bunch of us put our bikes on trailers and brought them down to Safford where Jeff Gojkers parents lived. Then the morning of Julio's funeral we rode our bikes down to San Simon. I had wanted to get some mohawks for us to wear on the way and The Helmet Center had even carried them but on a Thursday, he called the vendor and started an order to keep stock in the store. During the conversation of setting up the order, Dave from The Helmet Center explained to the guy what we were doing and he pulled together an order of a dozen mohawks or so and over-nighted them to The Helmet Center so I could pick them up before the road trip.

For the 1st Annual Memorial Ride, The Helmet Center hooked us up with a Scorpion helmet which was our only item for the raffle which raised quite a bit of money. Then last year for the 2nd Annual Memorial Ride, they donated an Icon Helmet and a Joe Rocket Textile Jacket which were both used as prizes for a poker run. They also kicked in some gift cards, mohawks and miscellaneous gloves to the raffle.

This year, for the 3rd Annual Memorial Ride, The Helmet Center has come through again and donated a Scorpion EXO-400 Skull Bucket helmet* and a Shift Vantage Leather Jacket**.

 

We also have other items donated by friends and family like Best Buy Gift Cards and theme gift baskets.

* The Scorpion Helmet can be brought into The Helmet Center and you can exchange the helmet for the right size providing it is in pristine showroom condition when brought in.
** The Shift Vantage Jacket is a LARGE and cannot be exchanged for another size or color.
